Full closure of ABI smelter possible before end-of-June

 
CANADA ALUMINUM UPDATE.

Standoff between ABI’s management and union could result in smelter’s full curtailment before end of next quarter, given the now unfavorable position of the smelter in the industry’s cost curve.

If no agreement is reached in the next few weeks, odds of a complete shutdown would increase considerably. The ABI primary aluminum smelter in Canada is currently producing around 69 kmtpy of molten metal.
