Mexico. Plummeting RSI demand: secondary and scrap market effects

 

Our intel from the ground warned since late 2018 that Mexico´s RSI consumption was going to decline in 2019. This is now happening and is even worse than initially thought. So far this year, at least three of the major RSI consumers have lowered their contracted volumes and/or spot purchases. Indeed, one of them will be almost out of the contractual market for the remainder of the year. This trend is having relevant repercussions in Mexico´s scrap and secondary markets…
